For many visitors, Prague entertainment means enjoying an evening at the theatre, and the city has about 40 theatres, some offering performances in English. The ornate National Theatre dates from the 19th century, and is perhaps the best known venue, offering a comprehensive programme year round. Other theatrical venues offer something a little bit different; the National Black Light Theatre presents a show of visual tricks, with the performers dressed in black, while several other black light venues put the emphasis on audience interaction. The Marionette Theatre provides a memorable evening for adults as well as children, and if the weather is good, a performance at the open air music theatre is highly recommended. The Czech Republic is known for its beer, and whether it’s before or after the performance, a drink or two in a traditional tavern can complete your evening.
