Growing sprouts at home is easy and they can be grown in a matter of days. Sprouts are versatile, are full of nutrients and there are a surprising number of delicious sprout recipes available. You can actually grow sprouts in a glass jar with cheesecloth stretched over the opening, or it’s easy to buy specialized growing equipment in your local farm store or online. You can grow enough sprouts for your main course and salads for the next few weeks with just a few tablespoons of seed. Once your sprouts have grown and are ready to eat, they will typically last up to a couple of weeks when stored in the fridge or other cool environment. Sprouts may be an acquired taste, but as well as being high in nutrients, they have antioxidants, are high in fiber, can protect against cancer, and can regulate blood sugar levels.
