Russian River Brewery is a well-known brewery and brewpub in downtown Santa Rosa, California. It also has an outlet in Windsor. This brewery is famous for its sour beers and strong India pale ales. The company was established in 1997 when Korbel Champagne Cellars decided to step into the beer brewing business. It seemed like a logical decision for them because they were in a related business in the beverage industry, and it seemed like the right thing to do. The company’s chief brewmaster introduced his favorite component for lambic beers, previously used with local wine barrels. When applied to sour beer production, the results were desirable. In 2002, the principal owner, Korbel, sold the brewery to their brewmaster. Two years later, the company went through a remodeling procedure and moved to Santa Rosa. While the company has enjoyed a great deal of fame, it is particularly noted for inventing Double India Pale Ale, a particular beer style.
