Blue Hole Cenote Belize

Near Belmopan, the capital city of Belize is Blue Hole Cenote Belize. This is a 500-acre park that contains the Blue Hole, some nature trails, and a cool jungle pool.

Many people enjoy swimming in the park because its shallow clear waters are rich in marine life. Here you’ll find reef sharks, Hammerhead or Bull Sharks, turtles, and giant corals. However, you don’t want to swim in the deep waters of the park. At 56 meters oxygen toxicity will kick in, even if you’re swimming with “normal” compressed air. Unfortunately, this is something that can eventually kill you.

Over the years scientists have taken some time to investigate these deep waters. They’ve found that after 90 meters life vanishes. While there’s a conch graveyard located deep within this hole, after that (around 120 meters) there’s nothing more than some small stalactites.
