What Is A Cloud Based Server?

A cloud based server is a centralized server that is hosted by a provider and delivered to multiple users over a network, typically the internet, that is available on demand. Such servers provide all of the functions of a physical hardware server such as providing processing functions, storage and executing applications.

These servers are located in large data centers located in various parts of the world and deliver their services through a cloud computing platform. Customers purchase access to these services as required and pay a subscription fee to do so. This type of service relies on virtualization in which a physical servers resources are combined through multiple software-defined instances of the server each of which behaves the same way as a single physical server to the user. The benefits of this approach are that server resources are more affordable, convenient, are scalable and are more reliable.
