The Basics About The QLD Safety Certificate

It doesn’t matter whether you have a car, a motorcycle, a trailer or a truck, you need to have a valid QLD Safety Certificate in order to be eligible to drive. The certificate should be obtained during the registration or transferring procedure for any of these vehicles. You can take a look at the vehicle inspection guidelines on the QLD home page and you’ll find all the areas that the inspection covers, including brakes, tyres, lights, suspension and steering as well as the amount of body rust or damage on the vehicle and whether the windscreen is sufficiently safe.

There are some exemptions to not having a valid certificate, but that mainly comes into play when you’re selling it for parts or you’re outside of the jurisdiction. Safety certificates are usually only valid for a few months, so you’ll need a new one every time to sell a vehicle as you can only use it for one transfer.
