138If you are interested in architecture, urban planning, engineering and the environment, a career as a civil engineer may be ideal for you. It also helps to have some artistic ability, a grasp of physics, math and science and an analytical mind.

You will require at least a bachelor’s degree in a related subject if you are interested in this career field, although it also pays to start preparing earlier by focusing on relevant subjects at school. You will also need to take and pass the Fundamentals of Engineering exam, and although an internship isn’t a requirement, it can provide some useful hands on experience.

Civil engineers are always in demand, and the outlook for employment is generally good, making this a stable, appealing and well paid career option.
