How to Keep Your Emails Safe and Secure

If you’re like most people, you send hundreds of emails each month. Whether it’s to colleagues, clients, or friends, email has become an integral part of our daily lives. But have you ever thought about outbound email security? It’s just as important as protecting your inbox from spam and phishing attempts.

Why is outbound email security important? Well, if a hacker gains access to your email account, they can send emails that appear to be from you to your contacts. They could use your email to send malicious links or attachments, or to trick people into giving away sensitive information. Also, confidential information could be leaked simply by accidentally sending it to the wrong recipient email address. So, what can you do?

First, enable two-factor authentication. This means that you’ll need to enter a code sent to your phone or a separate email address in addition to your password to access your email account. Secondly, be cautious when opening attachments or clicking links in emails, even if they appear to be from someone you know. Never enter sensitive information such as passwords, bank account, or social security numbers in an email.

Lastly, remember that once you hit ‘send, ‘ your email is out of your control. Think carefully before hitting ‘send’ and make sure to double-check the email recipients to avoid sending information to people who should not get it. By taking these steps, you can help keep your outbound email security on lock, and protect both yourself and others from online threats.
