A hot toddy is just what you may need on a cold, wet day when you are down with the flu. A good hot toddy recipe will of course include the requisite whiskey and hot water, mixed with a healthy dose of honey and lemon juice.
There will, of course, be some changes to the recipe depending on which part of the world you live in. For instance, in Canada people like to replace the honey in the hot toddy with maple syrup. There are also folks who swear by adding a bag of herbal tea to their concoction.
You may also like pour the hot beverage in a mug, and then add a pinch of nutmeg powder, one or two cloves and a stick of cinnamon. Allow the hot toddy mixture to stand for at least five minutes. Now, you can enjoy your drink and let it to alleviate some of the dreaded symptoms of a cold.
