Support for the Pro-Abortion Movement has increased greatly in the past few decades. Although this is still a controversial topic, many who support the legalization of abortion believe that a woman should have an autonomous right over her own body and be able to make decisions impacting her personal health. It has been noted that some women who become pregnant may suffer health risks, and should therefore be given the option of having a safe and legal abortion. It has further been argued that women who become pregnant by rape should not be forced to carry the child of their rapist. Due to this growing public support, laws have gradually been relaxed to allow women to have abortions, although there are still strict rules in place, for example, that prohibit late-term abortions in all but the most serious medical cases.
