SWPPP is a stormwater pollution prevention plan. It is one of the regulations of a stormwater permit. SWPPP plan lists down all sources of pollutions that may affect the stormwater near the construction zones. The purpose of SWPPP Compliance is to promote practices at construction areas that reduce the industrial discharge pollutants in stormwater. The permit list down all the terms and condition under which the construction site must operate. A regular compliance audit is done to make certain that the construction site is complying with the safe practices as per SWPPP requirements.
There may be slight variations in SWPPP terms depending on the State, however, the process is regulated under the Federal SWPPP standards and a good portion of all legal requirements are the same. Construction sites can contact the local state agency to gather all necessary information on SWPPP requirements.
