A freight bill auditor is tasked with checking a company’s freight bills for accuracy. He must analyze each bill and make necessary adjustments and corrections based upon various manual reports, software, tariff information, software or other valuable freight related resources. He must then verify that all adjustments and corrections have been completed.
Freight auditing deals with all costs associated with a company moving products from point A to point B. These can be costs such as transportation, loading, packing, and unloading. This also includes insurance costs associated with protecting the company while it conducts business.
Quite naturally, another company’s costs can affect these costs. For instance, when there are changes in fuel costs, this affects transportation costs. When another company passes along such costs, it is the freight bill auditor’s responsibility to analyze these costs and ensure they are valid.
