The Benefits Of Structural Insulated Panels

Let’s start by looking at what they are, shall we?

A sandwich insulated panel is a sandwich shaped composite, that comprises insulated layers of rigid cores put between layers of structural boards. You can mostly use structural insulated panels as building materials.

The board of it can be plywood, sheet metal, oriented strand board, cement or magnesium oxide boards. Its core is mostly polyisocyanurate foam, composite honeycomb, polystyrene foam, polyurethane foam or polystyrene foam.

The Benefits of Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs)

They offer the following benefits in construction and building design:

• Using them shortens the building by three or two times.

• They don’t need any specialized tools to use them.

• They help to ensure less supervision in the construction site.

• They make the estimating cost more accurate and simpler.

• Buildings constructed using SIPs are usually free of cold areas, drafts and airtight.

• Roof systems made using SIPs eliminate the use of trusses which ensures more space under the roof which can serve as living space.
