Right now, despite the spiraling threat of pollution and global warming, the general populace has been relatively slow to adapt to new technologies like AI, robotics, and self-driven vehicles. The slow if reactionary response is easy to understand.
People are not only cautious. For the most part, we are wired to stick to the status quo and our daily routines. As a result, going in the opposite direction tends to instill fear in us with the exception of a few people who simply love to take risks. For example, there is a widespread fear that AI will create a future where machines will control humanity rather than the other way around.
