Using Metal Cutting Discs

Metal Cutting Discs are handheld power instruments used for various metal fabrication tasks that involve cutting, grinding, finishing, deburring and polishing, and forming metal parts. The most frequently used types of such angle grinders are cordless powered. Usually battery-operated, this type of power tool is perfect for any variety of metalworking tasks. Other uses include cutting plate shapes, sheet metal bending, drilling, shimming, beading, etc. However, these types of equipment are suitable for work involving smaller diameter holes.

Such types of equipment include rotating disks along with cutting tools. A number of manufacturers make specialized grinding wheels or discs. These discs are designed to work in extremely narrow gap sizes. They are often used in applications where the workpiece requires grinding or cutting in very close to the edges.

Metal cutting Grinding discs are designed to be extremely durable, and their strength and stiffness depend upon the type of grinding wheel or disc that is used. The discs are made of a hard, solid steel core, which is surrounded by an outer ring. The inside of the disc is laminated with a layer of the plastic compound. The grinding wheels are typically made of diamond, but a number of manufacturers use other materials.
