Replacing only two tyres can create different rolling diameters or grip levels between axles, which may affect handling and can matter on vehicles designed to run closely matched tyres.
Ask a qualified fitter whether the vehicle requires a particular replacement arrangement. After trips on rocky tracks, inspect the tread and sidewalls before the next commute, remove stones lodged in grooves when appropriate and look for cuts, bulges or fresh uneven wear.
Rotate tyres only according to the vehicle and tyre maker’s guidance. Record the pressure and tread condition after a difficult trip. That small check can prevent a damaged tyre from being overlooked until the next loaded journey.
