A falling water level, damp paving, or a pale patch lifting beside the steps can make a homeowner reach for a coating immediately.
That response may hide the symptom without correcting the cause.
Before selecting a concrete pool sealer, inspect the full pool edge, including cracks, joints, drains, pipe penetrations, and nearby slabs.
Look for poor drainage, deteriorated concrete, old paint, and areas where water may be moving from below.
A coating bonds only as well as its substrate allows. If the slab is weak or actively wet, adding another layer usually creates a short-lived repair rather than a watertight surface.
