Leaking urine during a cough, feeling pressure after a long shift, or experiencing pain during sex can be unsettling, especially if you are unsure whether physiotherapy is relevant. These symptoms may come from different combinations of muscle weakness, muscle tension, changes in pressure control, pain sensitivity, or other health issues.
An initial appointment usually covers when the symptoms began, what brings them on, and how they affect sleep, exercise, work, bowel habits, and relationships.
With your permission, the assessment may look at breathing, posture, movement, abdominal control, and pelvic floor function. You can ask for an explanation, pause an examination, or decline any part of it.
