Market research is basically accumulating data about a market or group of customers scientifically, so that strategies could be devised to market an offering to this specific buyer group in a way that’s appropriate and profitable. Careers in market research are desirable, and professionals from the statistics or math background tend to do well in this domain.
Market research job options aren’t scarce as there aren’t enough adequately skilled math and statistics graduates. In other words, the demand is quite high, but the supply is nowhere close to what’s needed.
This huge gap can also be attributed to the fact that people with a science background opt for more technical fields than market research. And those with the commerce or arts background lack the understanding or aptitude needed to excel in this field. All of this means market research is rife with job opportunities for the right people.
